A Pelco Case Study
Lewiston-Porter Central School District, serving about 2,100 students and 375 staff in Youngstown, NY, faced growing safety concerns and an aging analog surveillance system that produced grainy images and lacked effective visitor access control. To modernize within budget constraints, the district selected Pelco IP cameras (Sarix, Optera, EVO) and Pelco’s VideoXpert video management platform—installed in partnership with security integrator SmartEdge—to replace the legacy system and strengthen school security.
SmartEdge and Pelco deployed 190 Pelco IP cameras with SureVision 3.0, Optera panoramic views, EVO 360° fisheye coverage and 30‑day storage, using Pelco’s Smart Compression Technology to lower bandwidth and storage needs by up to 70%. The solution improved image clarity for hallway, parking-lot and stadium monitoring, enabled better visitor screening via buzzer access, supported incident investigations and remote construction oversight, and delivered measurable gains (190 cameras, 30‑day retention, up to 70% storage savings) that increased safety and operational efficiency for Lewiston-Porter.
