Colquitt County Jail - Customer Case Study
Colquitt County Jail, a three-pod detention facility in Moultrie, Georgia, was relying on an outdated black-and-white analog CCTV system with numerous blind spots and no efficient way to archive footage. Seeking an upgrade, the sheriff’s office engaged local integrator Ace Technologies, which recommended a modern Pelco video solution including IP cameras and Digital Sentry recording/management tools.
Pelco installed more than 70 high-definition IP cameras (69 Sarix domes and two Spectra PTZs), two 12TB Digital Sentry NVRs with NVS software, a Digital Sentry workstation and six 32-inch Pelco monitors. The new Pelco system eliminated blind spots, made video retrieval simple and intuitive for at least five trained users, and produced immediate results — guards caught contraband two days after installation and later used footage to help apprehend a suspect — prompting the jail to fund additional cameras.
