Central Coast Council deployed a multi-town video surveillance Street Safe program to cover a 325,000‑person area and long, dispersed public spaces. Working with ECS Services, the council used Pelco fixed and PTZ cameras with Pelco’s VideoXpert VMS to replace legacy analogue gear; the challenge was delivering reliable long‑distance PTZ coverage, centralised monitoring and heavy storage demands across many remote sites.

Pelco upgraded the system with VideoXpert, VxOpsCenter operator consoles, Pelco Spectra PTZs and Optera panoramic cameras supported by local storage servers (recording/display at 25 ips and 1080p). The solution now supports 108 cameras (48 in Gosford), ~288 TB of storage and 20×12MP locally stored cameras, delivers plate‑readable zooms, multi‑monitor multi‑stream viewing and improved operator workflows — tangible benefits that have aided investigations, met court evidence needs and even helped officers locate a missing person in a recent incident.
