Case Study: Volta Industries expands Chicagoland retail EV charging and ad revenue with custom outdoor digital kiosks from Peerless-AV

Peerless-AV® Works with Volta Industries to Create Custom Charging Stations for Retail Centers in the Chicagoland Area

Volta Industries, a designer of vehicle charging stations, needed to move from static to digital signage and expand ad-supported, free EV chargers into Midwest retail centers while ensuring ease of installation, maintenance, security and all-weather reliability. To meet these requirements Volta partnered with Peerless-AV and selected a custom solution built around a 47" Xtreme™ Outdoor Daylight Readable Display inside an Xtreme™ Outdoor Portrait Kiosk, plus a Chromebox media player, EKM power meter and cellular modem.

Peerless-AV delivered pre-assembled, IP68-rated Xtreme™ kiosks with Dynamic Thermal Transfer, impact‑resistant glass, secure locks, two-sided advertising and real‑time content updates, and worked with installer JNS Power for site deployment. The result: by fall 2015 Volta had 10 charging stations at 3 Illinois locations (including Oakbrook Center and Northbrook Court), providing free charging for shoppers, reliable outdoor operation, easier maintenance and new digital-ad revenue opportunities—demonstrating that Peerless-AV’s custom kiosks met Volta’s performance and expansion goals.
