Intermedia, an advertising agency for a sleep supplement brand, faced the challenge of replicating the cost-effective performance of linear television on CTV. Their initial CTV strategy using publisher-direct PMP deals resulted in significantly higher costs and a lack of transparency, making it difficult to optimize and justify shifting budget from linear. They partnered with the vendor Peer39 to find a solution.
Peer39 implemented a solution using its pre-bid contextual targeting categories. This approach was layered on top of open market CTV supply to replicate the high-performing linear environments, which provided greater transparency and scalability. The results for Intermedia's campaign were a 6.2% lower cost per household reached, a 41% lower cost per view, and a 37% overall improvement in media cost efficiency, achieving linear-like performance in a scalable CTV framework.
