De Beers wanted to explore using virtual reality as a tool for virtual collaboration and had a budget to prototype a compelling virtual space. They needed an environment that was easy to navigate and interesting to inhabit without complex interactions. They partnered with vendor Pebble Studios to bring this vision to life.

Pebble Studios developed an immersive VR client app using Unreal Engine, creating a series of scenes that tell the story of a diamond's journey. The solution featured neutral avatars and simple teleportation navigation, prioritizing ease of use and high immersion. Pebble Studios delivered a performant and visually high-fidelity experience that allowed De Beers to guide customers through its 'Shop of the Future'.
