Whirlpool Corporation - Customer Case Study

Whirlpool Corporation, the world’s leading appliance manufacturer, expanded its presence in China with the acquisition of Hefei Sanyo and instituted a Business English policy to unify global operations. To ensure Hefei leaders could lead meetings, communicate with colleagues and customers, and handle reports and presentations, 23 executives—mostly at High Beginner/Low Intermediate levels—were selected for an intensive language upgrade.

Pearson English delivered a customized program using STEP+ assessments, ONE Coach one-to-one mentoring, in-person small-group classes and on-demand online study—about 186 hours per participant over 44 weeks. Participants improved on average by 189 points (one proficiency level), showing strong engagement with coaches, and Whirlpool is expanding the initiative to more employees.
