Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) is a global IT services and consulting firm with more than 300,000 associates of 122 nationalities operating in 46 countries. As its international footprint grew, TCS faced a business challenge: ensuring a diverse, distributed workforce had the Business English skills needed to collaborate with clients and colleagues worldwide without pulling consultants off client projects for classroom training.

TCS deployed Pearson English Business Solutions’ ONE, a 24/7 cloud-based Business English platform with interactive coursework, speaking tools and virtual classes, across a 2012–2015 pilot of 750 licenses. Learners averaged 49 hours and 208 activities each; 59% advanced two levels in four months (71% advanced at least one), and leadership surveys reported ~20% gains in working relationships and productivity and ~33% improvements in time efficiency and customer satisfaction—prompting continued roll-out of the program.
