PPG Industries, a global leader in coatings and specialty products, was growing rapidly in China and needed an aggressive talent-management strategy to attract, develop and retain staff. A key challenge was that Chinese employees needed stronger English communication skills to collaborate with colleagues and customers worldwide and become productive more quickly.

PPG implemented Pearson English Business Solutions (One), an online, business‑focused English program with instructor support, after a successful pilot in which 92% rated it positively and 61% reported using new skills on the job within six weeks. The rollout improved cross‑border collaboration, sped knowledge transfer, increased customer confidence, strengthened management and R&D communication, and helped PPG begin developing future leaders from within.
