CSC, a global technology services firm with roughly 93,000 employees, expanded its delivery capability in 2008 by acquiring Vietnam-based First Consulting Group, adding about 550 staff in CSC Vietnam whose clients are mainly in North America and Europe. The new team struggled with business English—especially pronunciation, reading and understanding different dialects—and prior, fragmented training lacked standardization, business focus and managerial support, resulting in low engagement and limited productivity gains.

To address this, CSC Vietnam implemented Pearson English Business Solutions after a successful pilot, pairing standardized online training with active management involvement (quarterly needs analyses, manager nominations and kickoff-sharing sessions). The program cut annual training costs by 30%, reached more than 20% of the workforce, and delivered strong outcomes—94% reported better listening, 87% better reading, 76% better speaking/writing, 85% improved business email skills and 80% improved meeting participation—while learners exceeded usage targets and the initiative was rolled out to employees in 20 countries, producing measurable time savings and productivity gains.
