Alcoa’s Howmet Castings worked with PeakLogix to improve its existing vertical carousels and gain more cubic storage versatility while minimizing overall footprint. The customer needed a more efficient storage solution without expanding the warehouse.

PeakLogix replaced five vertical carousels with five taller, more versatile vertical lift modules (VLMs) featuring double-deep pushback rack, selective rack, and carton flow rack. The upgrade helped Alcoa’s Howmet Castings centralize resources into a smaller area, use space more efficiently, and increase productivity, while the VLMs provided a compact 24-foot-high footprint of just 10 feet by 8 feet and capacities of up to 132,000 lbs or 99,000 lbs per machine.
