Skills England launches Occupational Maps with PDMS in public beta on time and on budget

Skills England, a government body responsible for technical education and apprenticeships, faced the challenge of evolving its Occupational Maps to better reflect the growing landscape of technical education programmes. These maps serve as a navigational tool for students and educators, and they needed to be expanded and improved to be more occupation-centric. PDMS was selected as a partner to address this challenge using web design and development services.

PDMS collaborated with Skills England using an agile methodology to develop enhanced, interactive Occupational Maps. The solution included a public API and a feature-rich site built in Umbraco CMS, allowing data to be accessed in multiple formats. The result was a robust framework that provides clarity for stakeholders, assists in career planning, and raises awareness of the technical education landscape. The maps were successfully launched at the House of Commons to positive user feedback.
