Incorporating PDFNet SDK™ into Xara Xtreme™ as part of the Proteus One GFX PDF Filter

Proteus Data Systems, maker of the Proteus One GFX data-transformation filters, was engaged by Xara Group to add PDF output to the Xara Xtreme illustration suite. The challenge was to convert Xara’s sophisticated illustration metadata into PDFs with exacting fidelity and editability—requirements that exceeded the capabilities of many off-the-shelf PDF solutions and made building low-level PDF routines impractical given time-to-market constraints.

Proteus selected PDFTron’s PDFNet SDK for its two-tier API, broad feature set, favorable pricing and strong support, and integrated it as the core of the Proteus One GFX PDF Filter. The result was reliable, high-performance PDF export that preserves precision and editability of complex graphics, now shipping in Xara Xtreme and offered as an optional module—features that were well received by users and supported by attentive PDFTron assistance.
