Swiss Life AG, a leading European provider of financial security and life insurance, needed to archive documents from Microsoft SharePoint in a compliant, text-searchable format to replace their previous TIFF archive. They partnered with Pdftools to convert a wide variety of business documents directly into the PDF/A standard, intending to add digital signatures and timestamps to meet their compliance requirements.

Pdftools implemented its 3-Heights Document Converter Service to process documents directly from SharePoint. The solution converted files into PDF/A, added necessary metadata, and applied digital signatures and timestamps before storing them in the archive. This allowed Swiss Life to make over 1.5 million documents added yearly text-searchable and compliant, while also providing a mirrored, robust secondary archive for long-term availability.
