Delen Private Bank, a Belgium-based investment manager, faced the challenge of ensuring that the physical and electronic versions of customer documents were identical. They needed a fully automated way to merge PDFs, such as adding generic informational inserts to individual reports, on their Unix backend server. The bank turned to vendor Pdftools and selected their PDF Toolbox SDK (Command Line Suite) to meet their requirements for automation, stability, and performance.

Pdftools provided a solution where their PDF Command Line Suite was installed on a single server and called from a shell script. This allowed Delen to dynamically merge generic PDFs with customer documents as they were retrieved from the electronic archive, eliminating the need to store duplicate copies. The implementation by Pdftools saved the bank significant disk space and delivered a simple, fast, and automated system that fully met their needs, ensuring the electronic and physical documents were completely equivalent.
