Alte Leipziger, a German life insurance society, needed to reliably archive 15 million documents annually that were received in a wide variety of formats through channels like email, fax, and an agent portal. Their challenge was converting these diverse file types, including images, office documents, and container formats, into a single, standardized format for long-term preservation. To meet this need, they selected the 3-Heights™ Document Converter from vendor Pdftools.

Pdftools provided a solution by embedding its converter as an independent service within Alte Leipziger's infrastructure. The implementation successfully standardized the document archive to the ISO-compliant PDF/A format. The results included a significant reduction in clearing cases and documents that could not be processed automatically. This allowed all documents to be viewed in a single viewer, greatly simplifying handling and ensuring cost-effective, internationally-standardized long-term archiving.
