RetailNext delivers 2-3x more coverage with PDE

RetailNext, a provider of retail analytics, partnered with PDE to develop a commercial enclosure for their Aurora ceiling-mounted sensor. The challenge was to create a design that was both unobtrusive in a customer-facing environment and capable of communicating its sophisticated technology. It also required a rigid structure for precise camera mounting, effective thermal management for onboard processing, and a unique form to maintain patent clearance from competing products.

PDE delivered a solution featuring a die-cast aluminum base for a rigid core and a floating visual appearance. This design provided precise camera mounting and integrated thermal management with internal vents, a fan, and a heatsink. The solution also included swing-out ethernet ports for tidy cable management in a compact form factor. The resulting Aurora sensor delivers two to three times the coverage area of competing solutions while sitting unnoticed in the retail environment.
