A PDE Case Study
Eaton required a successor to their TD3000 wireless controller that could withstand extreme job site conditions, including dust, water submersion, and two-meter drops onto concrete, while integrating a new display and modular battery. They engaged PDE to design a rugged housing that would meet these stringent IP66/IP67 ratings and preserve the familiar form factor for trained operators.
PDE delivered the full mechanical design for the TD3100, engineering a sealed enclosure with optimized wall thickness and rib geometry to survive drops and harsh environments. They developed a new locking mechanism for the modular battery and a contactless charging cradle that eliminated exposed contacts. The solution from PDE successfully integrated all new features without compromising the device's renowned durability or ergonomic design.
