South Staffordshire District Council faced a compliance challenge when launching a new paid-for Garden Waste Collection service. They needed a secure telephone payment solution that would allow their contact center staff to guide residents through a registration and payment process while meeting PCI DSS requirements, all within a tight deadline that was further complicated by the sudden shift to remote work due to the pandemic. They turned to the vendor PCI Pal and its product, Call Secure Plus, for a solution.
PCI Pal implemented its cloud-based Call Secure Plus solution, which integrated seamlessly with the council's existing systems and enabled secure payment processing for remote agents. The results were highly successful, with the council processing over 30,000 subscriptions—nearly double their original target. Approximately 6,000 of these were handled by the contact center using the new system, which proved to be efficient and straightforward for both staff and residents, ensuring a smooth and compliant launch.
