A PBWorks Case Study
The University of Wisconsin teamed with Resilient Technologies and leading polymer scientists on an $11M Department of Defense project to develop airless Humvee tires, but collaboration was hampered by distributed teams (two-hour drives and one member 1,000 miles away) and time-consuming email-based file exchanges that created confusion, duplicate versions, and lost time tracking iterations and spreadsheets.
They adopted PBworks as a centralized wiki to store spreadsheets, FMEA and QFD documents, images, progress reports and competing-product research, eliminating back-and-forth attachments. The wiki streamlined coordination, reduced errors and duplication, became integral to the project, and is now being considered for other high‑priority efforts like improving cancer-treatment quality management.
