Katy Independent School District is a fast-growing suburban district outside Houston serving more than 58,000 students across 52 schools and nearly 4,000 teachers. After reorganizing its Instructional Technology department to focus on the “digital learner,” the district needed an easy-to-use platform that would let curriculum specialists, teachers and students collaborate remotely and bring 21st-century skills into everyday instruction — something static teacher web pages could not provide.

Katy ISD rolled out PBworks district-wide, supported by a Knowledge Base and hands-on mentoring from Integration Specialists. Curriculum teams, teacher workspaces and student project sites enabled ongoing collaboration, embedded web projects, and interactive whiteboard support, cutting face-to-face meetings and travel costs. The result: higher student engagement and writing/reading activity, smoother teacher collaboration, and strong teacher endorsement of PBworks’ ease of use.
