APQC, a nonprofit that maintains the Process Classification Framework™ (a taxonomy of over 1,500 universal business processes), needed a way to coordinate twice-yearly global updates. The project required secure, easy collaboration among academics, consultants, and practitioners across organizations and geographies, while preventing version-control headaches and accommodating many non-technical contributors.

APQC adopted PBworks for its simple editing, commenting, Word paste support, role-based security, external access, and export to Word/PDF/PowerPoint. The wiki automated document management with minimal administration, eliminated merging and version conflicts, kept the PCF always current, and streamlined final publishing—improving collaboration and organizational productivity.
