A Paystone Case Study
Mission Thrift Store, a volunteer-driven charitable organization, faced challenges common to retailers: losing revenue on merchandise refunds and lacking modern gift card programs. To address this and support its philanthropic mission, five of its locations partnered with vendor Paystone to implement an automated gift card solution.
Paystone's gift card platform integrated with the thrift store's existing POS system, allowing refunds to be issued as store credit on trackable, reloadable gift cards. This solution kept money in-store and increased customer return visits. The program also enabled the organization to make charitable donations and reward volunteers with gift cards, which volunteers often shared, bringing in new customers and generating greater cash flow for the charity.
