Franklin Management, a Virginia-based single-family property manager overseeing 3,000 homes across three states, faced major challenges with rent collection because many residents were unbanked and paid by money order. The process created errors, extra manual work for staff, and even led to a $40,000 drop-box theft, making Franklin Management look for a more secure and convenient alternative to money orders.
Franklin Management implemented PayLease’s CashPay solution, which lets residents pay rent in cash at thousands of retail locations and have payments routed electronically to the PayLease portal within minutes. PayLease also added optional Affinity cards to make transactions easier for residents. The result was a significant decline in money orders, increased resident satisfaction, and much less time spent by managers correcting payment issues, improving efficiency and restoring confidence after the theft.
