Case Study: Newport Aquarium achieves safer, keyless access control with Paxton Net2

A Paxton Access Case Study

Newport Aquarium secures 53 doors with Paxton Access

Newport Aquarium needed to replace its outdated lock-and-key security system to better protect its animals, visitors, and staff, and to control access to sensitive areas containing dangerous infrastructure. They partnered with vendor Paxton Access, whose flagship Net2 access control system was recommended by integrator Sec-Tron to provide a high-security and easy-to-use solution.

Paxton Access implemented its Net2 system, which utilized employee ID badges as access cards and integrated with the aquarium's existing hardware. The solution provided tailored access levels, improved tracking, and greater convenience for employees while withstanding the harsh, moist environment. As a result, Newport Aquarium expanded the system from 15 to 53 doors and has plans to install Net2 across its other theme park sites, citing significantly enhanced security and convenience over traditional keys.
