Hilltop Behavioral Health, a New Jersey mental health practice treating eating disorders, anxiety, trauma and depression, needed a fast, secure way to notify roughly 70–80 patients that it would temporarily move to telehealth during the COVID-19 outbreak. To maintain continuity of care and protect patient confidentiality, Hilltop relied on Paubox and its Paubox Email Suite Plus to send encrypted, HIPAA-compliant communications directly to patients’ inboxes without requiring portals or one-time passcodes.
Using Paubox Email Suite Plus, the Hilltop team automated encryption for all patient email so messages arrive seamlessly and securely in the inbox. In the past 12 months Paubox encrypted over 12,000 emails from four staff members, blocked 51 virus-laden messages and 4 phishing attempts, and saved roughly 350 minutes of patient time (an estimated 5 minutes each for ~70 patients) by eliminating portal logins — improving response speed and reducing administrative burden.
