Shatterproof - Customer Case Study

Shatterproof, a national nonprofit organization dedicated to ending addiction, sought to combat the opioid crisis by increasing public awareness and reducing the shame associated with the disease. Their challenge was to educate patients and encourage crucial doctor-patient discussions about treatment within primary care offices. To achieve this, they partnered with PatientPoint and utilized its patient engagement solutions, including PatientPoint Communicate, PatientPoint Interact, and PatientPoint Access.

PatientPoint implemented a multi-channel digital campaign across nearly 21,000 primary care physician offices, distributing custom educational content in waiting rooms, exam rooms, and back offices. The results were significant. The PatientPoint program drove a 2.9% point increase in awareness for Shatterproof and, most importantly, led to PatientPoint physicians prescribing nearly 3 million fewer opioid pills compared to a control group. The campaign also successfully encouraged openness, with 3 out of 5 patients reporting they felt comfortable discussing substance abuse with their provider.
