Piedmont Healthcare, an Atlanta-based health system with 11 hospitals and more than 650 locations, wanted to improve patient financial care and grow collections by $10 million over three years. Patients and staff were frustrated by confusing billing statements, limited self-service payment options, and legacy tools that didn’t integrate well with Epic. Patientco implemented consumer-friendly billing communications, self-service digital payment options, and deep Epic integration with real-time posting and reconciliation. In the first year, Piedmont collected $45 million at point of service, generated $7 million in payment lift, and increased point-of-service payments by 30%. Patientco also helped drive strong digital engagement, with 83,000 patients signing up for email communications, 47,000 opting into texts, and nearly 400% growth in patient-initiated payment plan adoption in two months.
