Meeting Professionals International (MPI), a global association of meeting planners with over 23,000 members, needed to drive pre-show excitement and attendance, help attendees plan conference time, connect peers and suppliers, teach social media use, and build lasting community at its MeetDifferent and World Education Congress events. MPI engaged Pathable to deliver an interactive attendee networking and logistics mobile event app and integrated web communities to complement its existing event sites.

Pathable implemented branded communities and a mobile app with rich attendee profiles, personalized agendas and calendars, a virtual tradeshow, LinkedIn/Twitter integration, interest-based recommendations and a “Tweet My Profile” feature. The impact was significant: more than 82% of attendees downloaded the app and 75% used it actively, generating 301,587 page views, 1,500 private messages, an average 12:23 minutes per attendee in-app, tweets reaching 15,000 people, 3,000+ sessions added at MeetDifferent and 18,000+ profile searches at WEC — results that increased engagement before, during and after the events and outperformed MPI’s parallel LinkedIn/Facebook efforts.
