Aintree University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust worked with Patchwork Health to tackle a fragmented staff bank managed by 34 departments, each using different processes and rates. This created internal competition, unwarranted rate escalations, poor shift visibility for locums, last-minute fill issues, higher agency reliance, and incomplete temporary staffing data.
Patchwork Health implemented its tech-enabled staff bank service, along with Patchwork Insights and the Employer Hub, to centralise staffing, harmonise rates, and improve data visibility and control. The results included staff bank growth from 220 to 700 clinicians, a 40% reduction in rate escalations saving £55,000, a 90% average fill rate, a 15% reduction in agency usage in the first three months, and increased management satisfaction to 94%.
