Establishing Interoperability With Workforce Systems at the Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust worked with Patchwork Health to support a doctor rostering rollout and introduce a tech-enabled staff bank. The Trust’s staffing systems were initially standalone, which meant data had to be entered twice to keep them synchronised, creating extra admin work and a higher risk of error.

Patchwork Health, working alongside PA Consulting, implemented a transformation programme and real-time integration with the Trust’s other IT systems to centralise processes and reduce duplication. As a result, the Trust grew its staff bank by 640% in under 18 months, achieved a 94% A&E shift fill rate, saved £300k per month through agency avoidance, and delivered £119k in annual savings through enforced mandatory breaks for bank staff.
