Case Study: Purdue University achieves 170% mobile-pay revenue growth and streamlined parking operations with Passport

A Passport Case Study

Preview of the Purdue University Case Study

Transitioning to a mobile-pay-only campus

Purdue University, a large campus serving over 40,000 students and 3,000 faculty, struggled with single-space coin meters, costly maintenance, cash handling and a lack of parking data. To modernize payments for digitally-savvy students and visitors, Purdue partnered with Passport and deployed the PassportParking® mobile-pay solution and Passport’s back‑end system.

Passport delivered a hardware-free mobile payment rollout with signage, meter decals and a phased removal of meters, plus integration with enforcement tools. The change drove a 170% increase in mobile pay revenue and a 211% increase in mobile transactions from Sep ’17–Apr ’18, reduced time spent unloading and maintaining meters, improved enforcement and compliance, and gave Purdue actionable parking data via Passport’s back office.
