Reston Town Center - Customer Case Study

Reston Town Center, a 2‑million‑square‑foot mixed‑use destination in Reston, VA with 7,000 parking spaces and about 40,000 monthly transactions, faced growing parking strain and revenue loss after becoming a major stop on the Washington Metro Silver Line. Initially seeking a gate‑based system, the operator shifted to a gateless, ticketless approach after an LPR pilot and engaged Passport to deliver a modern ticketless parking access and revenue control solution.

Passport deployed a cohesive parking and permitting platform (powering the ParkRTC app) integrated with Park Assist, Ventek Systems and LAZ Parking to provide real‑time availability, mobile and kiosk payments, digital permits with monthly billing, LPR‑enabled targeted enforcement, and a robust back office for reporting. The Passport solution streamlined entry and payments, improved space utilization and enforcement efficiency, captured previously lost revenue from transient parkers, and now supports efficient management of ~7,000 spaces and ~40,000 transactions per month.
