A Passport Case Study
University of Delaware, a large public university in Newark with over 22,000 students, faced a parking challenge: visitors, students and staff relied on daily visitor permits, kiosks and single-space meters across 10,721 spaces, and the campus needed alternative payment options, expanded hourly parking and a way to preserve its robust validation program. To address this, the university partnered with Passport and launched the Passport Parking app.
Passport implemented mobile pay with features like custom validation codes and account load balancing, opened permit-only lots to hourly parkers and expanded mobile-enabled lots from seven to seventeen. The solution eliminated physical validation stamps, reduced illegal parking, cut visitor permit purchases by 20%, processed nearly 50,000 in-app sessions, doubled average monthly transactions (100% increase) and drove a 67% increase in mobile parking revenue from 2018–2019.
