Case Study: University of Florida achieves faster, more convenient campus parking with Passport

A Passport Case Study

Preview of the University of Florida Case Study

Bringing speed and convenience to students, staff and visitors at a large university campus

The University of Florida, a 2,200‑acre campus serving 50,000 students and more than 20,000 faculty and staff across 13 garages and 150 surface lots, was struggling with long lines at pay stations that delayed students, staff, and visitors. To offer a faster, more convenient option, the University of Florida sought and adopted a mobile payments solution from Passport.

Passport rolled out a mobile payment app—piloted in one garage and expanded campus‑wide—adding features like validation codes for subsidized Rec Center parking and a robust back end for reporting and refunds. The Passport solution reduced cash handling and pay‑station lines, improved lot utilization, and drove measurable adoption with a 63% increase in transactions year‑over‑year (Apr ’17–Apr ’18), boosting overall parker satisfaction.
