AICHELIN Services, the service arm of an international industrial furnace manufacturer, faced the challenges of Industry 4.0, including a lack of digital expertise and the need to modernize aging systems. They needed a digital tool to increase efficiency for their maintenance technicians and reduce costs without requiring major new IoT investments. Partnering with vendor Partium, they sought to develop a mobile application to centralize information and streamline processes.
Partium implemented its technology to create the #jakob app, which uses AI-powered visual recognition to identify components via a smartphone camera. The solution integrated existing systems to provide technicians with instant access to documentation, condition monitoring data, and a direct link to the spare parts shop. The results for AICHELIN were significant, including a reduction in part identification time from 12 minutes to 10 seconds, annual savings of €600,000 from reduced downtime, a 50% reduction in errors, and a new revenue stream from licensing the app to customers.
