Case Study: Senegal Ministry of Health strengthens vaccine cold chain with Parsyl

A Parsyl Case Study

Senegal strengthens vaccine supply chain with Parsyl’s connected vaccine monitoring solution

The Ministry of Health in Senegal needed better visibility into its vaccine supply chain, especially across the last mile where temperature issues can lead to spoilage and lost vaccine potency. To address inefficiencies in vaccine stock and supplies, the ministry partnered with Parsyl and its connected vaccine monitoring solution to track cold chain conditions in storage and transit.

Parsyl deployed wireless sensors in cold rooms, refrigerators, and cold boxes, with alerts and mobile app notifications helping frontline workers and logistics managers respond to harmful temperature excursions. The results included monitoring across 887 facilities and 3,896 shipments, with 32.5 million temperature data points collected; Parsyl also found that just 5% of refrigerators generated about 50% of alerts, and simulations showed that fixing or replacing those units could reduce vaccines spoiled by freezing by 24%, while reducing time in the cold chain could cut spoilage by nearly 40%.
