Paradox Interactive’s Grandest Remote LAN

Video game developer and publisher Paradox Interactive needed a way to host its major Europa Universalis IV LAN party, The Grandest LAN, remotely after the COVID-19 pandemic prevented an in-person gathering. The challenge was to find a solution that provided real-time, low-latency gameplay for teams spread across the globe while also allowing the event to be streamed to a large online audience.

The vendor Parsec provided its solution, Parsec for Teams, to host the event. It enabled teams to share a single host computer with ease, delivering the high-quality, responsive gameplay required for a competitive tournament. Using Parsec, the event was a major success, achieving over 5,200 live views and 759,000 total views across platforms with 20 teams and 60 players participating from multiple continents.
