Qcentive Controls AWS Costs & Enables Cloud Computing in Healthcare

Qcentive, a two-year-old healthcare startup in Massachusetts, needed to move years of healthcare records into Amazon Web Services to build its analytics and contract-management application. During prototyping they had spun up many AWS resources and costs ballooned; after some rightsizing and limited Reserved Instance use, Qcentive’s Director of IT turned to ParkMyCloud for automated scheduling, user governance and on-demand start capability to regain control of cloud spend.

ParkMyCloud was deployed to automatically schedule and park non-production instances (for example, running 12 hours/day, 5 days/week), assign schedules and teams via an automated policy engine, and provide on-demand access through a mobile app. Within the first month Qcentive reduced its AWS bill by 20%, about 15 employees use the platform, many instances are parked or run only Mon–Fri 7:00–19:00, and another 40–50% are scheduled—delivering measurable, flexible savings without the drawbacks of Reserved Instance lock‑in.
