Connotate, a provider of web data extraction solutions, faced a large-scale migration from dozens of U.S. data centers to AWS with thousands of VMs and physical servers to rehost. They needed clear financial visibility and predictability to model migration costs and control ongoing cloud waste from always-on, oversized, and idle resources. To plan and forecast the move they used CloudHealth’s migration assessment and turned to ParkMyCloud for operational cost control and scheduling.

ParkMyCloud provided automated parking and scheduling with a simple web UI and DevOps integrations so non-technical users could stop demo and harvest servers and DevOps could enforce policy-driven shutdowns; combined with CloudHealth’s rightsizing and monitoring, Connotate achieved highly accurate forecasting (CloudHealth’s post-migration estimate was within $400 of actual spend) and materially reduced waste. ParkMyCloud is now a core part of Connotate’s cost-control toolkit and the two vendors are working to integrate savings and trigger parking actions for even greater automation.
