Pittsburgh Parking Authority - Customer Case Study

The Pittsburgh Parking Authority sought to modernize city parking by adding pay-by-phone capabilities after residents requested mobile payments and the city evaluated national vendors. Having already moved to multi-space, pay-by-plate meters, the Pittsburgh Parking Authority selected ParkMobile to power its Go Mobile PGH app and deliver a seamless mobile parking option across 11,000 on-street spaces and 32 surface lots.

ParkMobile integrated its app with Pittsburgh’s meters and enforcement technology, produced signage, and deployed brand ambassadors, launching Go Mobile PGH in under 60 days. The ParkMobile solution boosted compliance and usage—parking transactions rose 94% from 2016–2018, app utilization grew from 34% to about 50% by 2019, roughly half of on-street transactions now go through the app, and the city’s parking revenue has increased by $13 million since 2012.
