Optimizing for Efficiency Across Every Neighborhood

The City of Berkeley, CA manages roughly 3,800 metered parking spaces across diverse neighborhoods and had relied on coin- and card-operated meters for over a decade. Seeking to modernize its parking program and provide alternative payment options, the City selected ParkMobile as its first mobile parking app and to add reservation capability at the downtown Center Street Garage.

ParkMobile launched citywide in May 2018, working with Berkeley on custom signage and decals and integrating with the goBerkeley demand-responsive pricing program to guide customers between premium and value parking areas. The ParkMobile rollout produced strong adoption—over 40% year-over-year user growth, a 52% increase in transactions, and about 35,000 average monthly users with 15,000 average monthly transactions—reducing reliance on physical meters and improving overall customer convenience.
