A ParkMobile Case Study
The City of San Leandro, a suburban city of about 90,000 residents with roughly 3,000 paid public parking spaces, faced declining parking compliance after its previous parking contractor went bankrupt and on-the-ground infrastructure went unmonitored. Seeking a low‑cost, easy-to-adopt option that worked with existing equipment, the City of San Leandro selected ParkMobile’s mobile parking solution to give customers a phone-based way to pay and to improve enforcement without major new hardware investments.
ParkMobile was integrated with all downtown parking meters and two pay stations in the city’s four-level garage (going live in February 2018), while the city rolled out color‑coded zones, a ParkSL website, and community outreach to drive adoption. The ParkMobile deployment led to dramatic results—monthly transactions rose over 900% between February and December 2018—improving compliance and customer convenience while allowing the City of San Leandro to manage parking more effectively.
