The City of Santa Monica worked to better balance parking demand and supply, reduce downtown traffic congestion and CO2 emissions, and support sustainable land use and urban development. They partnered with ParkHub, using its Smarking BI data analytics platform and services to inform parking policy development and evaluate policy changes with high-resolution historical and real-time data.

ParkHub helped the city implement dynamic parking pricing, use real-time data for parking guidance, and run scenario modeling to adjust rates and plan land-use changes. As a result, parking transactions fell by 44,471 over 18 months while revenue reached $3,423,078, annualized CO2 emissions dropped by 303.75 metric tons, and 53% of Civic Lot demand shifted to the Civic Structure, enabling repurposing of the Civic Center Lot for new community uses.
