Electronic Giving Stabilizes Parish Finances In Boston Parish

ParishSOFT partnered with St. Ignatius of Loyola Parish in Chestnut Hill, MA, which faced a roughly 20% drop in collections after the Archdiocese of Boston scandal and needed predictable revenue from a geographically dispersed congregation. The parish also had to overcome an “envelope culture” and parishioner discomfort with switching to electronic contributions.

St. Ignatius launched the “Pledge for the Greater Glory” annual support program and implemented ParishSOFT’s ACH Electronic Giving integrated with its Offering & Pledges module, enabling automated withdrawals, automatic record updates, expiration tracking and robust reporting. About 500 families joined the pledge program (roughly 330 giving electronically), electronic giving now represents a majority of regular contributions, revenue has been stabilized (unaffected by storms), administrative work reduced, and the finance team can plan with greater certainty.
