Arizona-Based School for the Deaf Implements Real-Time Two-Way Communication to Connect with All Families

Phoenix Day School for the Deaf, serving 256 K-12 students who are deaf or hard of hearing, was struggling with an ineffective, one-way communication system. The school relied on paper bulletins and social media, which provided no feedback loop and no way to confirm if parents received important information. This was a significant challenge for their diverse parent community, many of whom use American Sign Language (ASL) or speak Spanish as a first language.

The school implemented the ParentSquare platform for communication, organization, and engagement. ParentSquare provided real-time, two-way messaging with automatic translation for Spanish and support for ASL videos. The results were immediate: the school gained the ability to communicate effortlessly with all families, see confirmed engagement, and receive direct feedback. ParentSquare broke down previous communication barriers and was instrumental in conveying critical updates during the pandemic.
