Halcyon Hotel uses Parasoleil to screen 400+ panels and 100+ exterior vents

The Halcyon Hotel, a new luxury hotel in Denver's Cherry Creek district, faced a unique design challenge. Its exterior was littered with hundreds of vents requiring screening, and the project architects, gkkworks, needed an affordable and luxurious solution that would not rust. They partnered with vendor Parasoleil to address this using custom architectural metal panels.

Parasoleil implemented a customized solution using their aluminum panels with an adapted Onion pattern. They created over 400 panels, customizing their size, borders, and openness—ranging from a minimum of 23% to 45% for a rooftop mechanical screen—to both hide the vents and allow for necessary airflow. The result was a rust-proof exterior that complemented the hotel's luxurious, modern feel and contributed to the project winning a 2017 AIA Denver Award.
