City and County of Denver completes 45-unit affordable housing project with Parasoleil

The City and County of Denver faced a challenge while constructing the Mariposa VII affordable housing project: how to enclose an outdoor stairwell in a way that was durable, code-compliant, and protective of the elements for its senior and disabled residents, while also creating an engaging architectural focal point for the transit-oriented community.

Parasoleil partnered with the project's architects and contractors to design and install a custom system of artistic aluminum panels featuring two distinct butterfly-inspired patterns. This solution from Parasoleil provided the necessary privacy and protection while creating a dynamic interplay of light and shadows. The visually striking installation encouraged residents to use the stairs and served as a beautiful focal point, contributing to the project's goal of creating an energized community.
