Parasoft SOAtest Helps Netherlands Secure a Nationwide ID System

The Dutch Ministry of Internal Affairs’ Agency BPR led development of the Citizen Service Number (CSN), a nationwide ID system for 16 million citizens that had to be highly robust, secure and delivered on an aggressive schedule. With manual, spreadsheet-driven testing creating a three-week bottleneck and little margin for error on performance and security, the ministry needed a faster, more reliable approach to guarantee system integrity.

The team chose Parasoft SOAtest for its ease of use, strong SSL support and local service, and used it for regression, functional and load/stress testing. Automation cut functional testing from three weeks to one day, accelerated releases from every three weeks to every three days (with a 10-minute production “go/no-go” check), and helped certify the CSN to handle 100 million transactions per year with peaks of 200 transactions/second—significantly improving productivity and confidence in system reliability.
