A Parasoft Case Study
A leading personal-computer manufacturer that ships market-differentiating software preloads needed to reduce field-reported crashes (measured via Windows Error Reporting). Although they believed static analysis could prevent many crash-causing defects, out-of-the-box tools missed the specific, uncommon issues most important to their business, and previous tools weren’t integrated into developers’ workflows—causing defects to be found late in QA and slowing delivery as they moved toward Agile.
They partnered with Parasoft to evolve its Development Testing Platform with custom static-analysis rules (e.g., null-pointer access, memory violations, buffer overruns, out-of-bounds access) and centralized management across C++, C#, and Java. Integrated into CI and bug-tracking, the tailored solution shifts defect detection left, increases release visibility, accelerates delivery while preserving reliability, and is being rolled out across product lines with future plans to require vendor compliance if it proves effective.
